Flury Thomas, Managing Partner

Thomas started his banking career in 1992 with a two years financial trainee program at Union Bank of Switzerland. He subsequently became an investment advisor for institutional clients and financial intermediaries with Credit Suisse.
As a client advisor he joined UBS AG in 1999 and was responsible for the asset management of high net worth individuals in Scandinavia. In 2002 he took over the market responsibility for Denmark within UBS Wealth Management in Zurich and as a Senior Client Advisor he developed investment solutions for high net-worth individuals and key clients.
In 2006 Thomas joined Signina as Head of Client Relations and became partner in 2009. Thomas is a member of the Swiss Finance Institute.

Klöck Martin, Managing Partner

Martin began his career in 1994 at UBS Private Banking in Basel, Switzerland, where he completed his professional education as a Swiss Certified Banker. He developed investment and risk management strategies for private clients and family offices using derivatives and alternative investment schemes.
In 1999 Martin went to London, where he was seconded to work at two major hedge fund specialists in the UBS Group firstly GAM and then O’Connor. Returning to Switzerland in 2001 he was appointed Senior Special Advisor for derivatives and alternative investment schemes at UBS Wealth Management developing investment solutions for ultra high net worth individuals.
In 2004 Martin left UBS to establish Mundaun Financial Design – an investment advisory firm focussing on alternative investment schemes and structured financial transactions. In 2006 the business strategy developed towards a discretionary asset management model and the Partners of Mundaun established Signina Capital AG (co-founded by Martin) for this business. As a Managing Partner at Signina Martin is responsible for the portfolio management and is a member of the investment committee.

Meadows Paul, Portfolio Manager

After receiving his MA in Jurisprudence from Oxford University in 1983, Paul began his career as a lawyer, qualifying as a solicitor after completing Articles with Norton Rose in 1985. He subsequently joined Kleinwort Benson in 1985 working in the Bond product development Group and Commercial paper sales. In 1986 Paul joined JPMorgan as assistant VP for product development in Bond research. In 1987, he moved to James Capel, now HSBC, as European derivatives sales and became an Associate Partner.
In 1989 he joined Paine Webber in London, as a proprietary trader for European derivatives. In 1990, Paul moved to Smith New Court (subsequently acquired by Merrill Lynch) as Head of Proprietary Trading. In 1992 he joined Rumson Asset Management, backed by Paloma Partners in the US, as Managing Director and Head of Trading. The Trading strategies included Stat Arb, option, warrant and convertible hedging. In 1996 he moved to Maple Securities as Head of European Trading where he remained until 2010 when he joined Signina Capital to manage the SC Convertible Bonds fund.

Pearson Rick, Portfolio Manager

After graduating from the University of Oxford, England (MA in Electronic and Structural Materials Engineering, 1992), Rick joined Salomon Brothers. He completed the internal training programme in New York and then commenced his professional career trading USD and JPY Eurobonds before joining the Gilt market making operation. In 1995 he was appointed Head of the Gilt Market Making unit at Nikko Europe with an additional assignment as Head of Yen trading.
In 1998, he was appointed Head of Fixed Income at Maple Partners Intl Ltd where he ran curve arbitrage models trading the Gilt and Canadian markets. In 2002 he moved to FIMAT Intl Banque SA where he was senior strategist for two derivatives products group. In 2004 Rick joined the Relative Value Group (RVG) at Man Financial Ltd as Senior Strategist, responsible for providing documented trading recommendations to Europe and America’s largest hedge funds and Proprietary units. In November 2006 he launched the STIRT programme at Arsago Group. Rick joined Signina Capital AG to manage the STIRT programme in February 2009.

Paterson Malcolm, Independent Director

Malcolm Paterson joined the BBC in 1982 working as an Assistant Producer across the programme output including News and Current Affairs and Documentary Features. In 1990 he moved to the management consultancy practice Project Management Group (PMG) initially specialising in Technology, Media and Telecommunications as a Senior Projects Director. He led a series of UK Government foreign direct investment projects for the Department of Trade & Industry and Economic Development Organisations in the UK.
In 1997 he joined Global Asset Management and, as COO of GAM's Fund of Hedge Funds Group, he was responsible for developing and implementing the investment management systems and investment process. This work led to three consecutive international awards for ‘Best Group, based on Investment Process’, from 2004 through 2006.
Malcolm joined Signina Capital in October 2006. In 2011 he stood down as a Managing Partner in order to focus on his work as an Independent Director. He serves as the Independent Director of Signina’s fund platforms in Grand Cayman and Luxembourg. Malcolm also serves as an Independent Director for single funds and asset management firms in Switzerland, Luxembourg, Grand Cayman and the Republic of Ireland.
